Many people hate Mondays. They can be rather harsh....they are reminders of what you did not accomplish over the weekend and they are the beginning of 5 long days of school or work until you get another shot at a successful weekend. What is a successful weekend? Staying on the couch and not getting dressed, eating junk food and watching TV? Is it cleaning your house, top to bottom and FINALLY purging those boxes that have been sitting in the corner of the cellar since, well, um, let's just say a long time. Perhaps you have a goal to climb one of New Hampshire's 4000 foot mountains, but you just can't seem to get started. The "perfect weekend" is something different to everyone.
No matter what your hopes were for those precious two days, they are over and done with. Instead of pining for what was, look ahead to what could be. You have 5 days to think about what you really want to accomplish in the weekend to come. (Let's face it, whether at work or at school, we ALL indulge in non work related daydreaming!!) Take a few minutes and look up that recipe you've been wanting to try and make your grocery list. Scan your closet now and put together THE outfit for that party. Talk to your spouse and kids and get some ideas for a weekend adventure. Call that charity, you know the one where you keep saying you'd like to volunteer.
Do you feel better yet, somewhat energized? Is Monday less of a drudge? You now have 5 days to plan and prepare. When Saturday hits, you will be ready for two days to enjoy yourself to the fullest. I bet next Monday won't be so bad. Don't get me wrong, I am not fond of my alarm clock either, but waking up, smiling and saying, wow, that was a great weekend definitely has its advantages.
